Kettle Creek Environmental Fund

A nonprofit organization

$5,819 raised by 54 donors

The purpose of the Kettle Creek Environmental Fund is to promote and support environmental education in Monroe County by raising funds and donating them to the Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center (KCEEC). The KCEEC is located on the 166-acre Kettle Creek Wildlife Sanctuary in Bartonsville and offers first-hand experience with the environment. Programs and resources are available for all age groups from toddlers to adults.

Since 1991,  KCEF has donated over $800,000 in support of the KCEEC and its programs.  Those funds were used to:

• Acquire 46 additional acres of adjoining lands to expand programming at the KCEEC.
• Purchase snowsuits and boots, raingear, tents, hip waders, assorted computer equipment, binoculars, microscopes, telescopes, cameras, observation beehive, floating dock…
• Construct a new sugar shack and purchase a new evaporator and sap finisher at the Meesing Sugarbush.
• Support the Annual High School and Junior Envirothons, Conservation Camp, Bug Fest, BioBlitz and Public Programs.
• Purchase an alternative fuel vehicle for at-school programming and a 15- passenger wheelchair accessible bus for public field experiences.
• Design and construct the Mattioli Outdoor Learning Pavilion at the KCEEC.
• Fund 4th grade Tannersville Cranberry Bog field trips along with other grade level school fieldtrips and classroom visits.

Our hands-on approach to environmental education results in programs designed for people of all ages and abilities.  We offer a wide variety of environmental topics and experiences and are happy to discuss the program needs of groups or individuals alike.

Since its inception in 1976 our Center has offered a wide range of programs and has always striven to improve and expand its offerings and promote Conservation through Education.
