Kids for Peace

Kids for Peace is a youth empowerment organization based in Carlsbad, California. Founded in 2006 by a mom and a high school honors student, Kids for Peace has grown from a backyard club of caring kids into a worldwide movement of over 19 million passionate and empowered young people.

We fulfill our important mission through our five programs: The Peace Pledge Program, The Great Kindness Challenge, Global Friends, Community Builders and Care for Our Earth.

Our Peace Pledge Program is implemented by Kids for Peace chapters made of youth from all backgrounds and demographics. Kids meet regularly to put the words of our Peace Pledge into action in ways that are personally meaningful & culturally relevant.

The Great Kindness Challenge is a positive & proactive SEL-focused kindness program implemented in schools, at home and now in businesses. In 2023, 39,068 schools in all 50 states participated in The GKC, demonstrating that kindness matters!

Community Builders is a powerful program where youth serve and unite our communities. Projects include the Grandfriends Kindness Project (an intergenerational experience), Peaceful Pen Pals (good old fashioned letter writing to connect kids) and the Kindness Unites Paperchain (18 miles of love and hope). 

Global Friends provides youth opportunities to make friends around the world and support them in times of need. Through our Kind Coins campaigns, we have built schools in Kenya and Pakistan, a health clinic in Liberia, playgrounds in hurricane affected areas, and donated 136 laptops to chuildren in Peru. We've delivered backpacks to refugees at the Mexican border through our You Are Loved Backpack Project and given cash donations to Ukrainian refugees through our Love for Ukraine Project. 

Care for Our Earth is an environmental stewardship program where kids put the 4th line of our Peace Pledge into action. From cleanups, recycling & composting to awareness campaigns & educational endeavors, our youth do all they can to help our hurting planet.

We are a humble nonprofit doing mighty work! We operate with 3 staff members, 3 contractors, 4 college interns, a dedicated board of directors, and over 70,000 adult volunteers.

With optimism and tenacity, we joyfully work to implement our mission and vision. Together we are uplifting our world through love and action!
