At KWC Performing Arts, we believe it is the intersection of the creative mind and the entrepreneurial spirit that produces our incredible kids.
When exposure (seeing a performance or watching a KidPower youth leader) is followed by education (studying the arts or KidPower Leadership training) and experience (performing in the arts or working on the KidPower Leadership Team), children begin to reach their full potential.
EXPOSURE
- We serve our community through live musical productions at the Scott Theatre. Many children attend school day field trips on subsidized $6 tickets or at no charge, and many families attend at no charge through our Nights of Giving program.
- Our Kids Who Care Touring Company performs 35-45 times annually in community venues like Boys & Girls Clubs, Cook Children's Medical Center, after-school programs, corporate events, Bass Hall with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, and many more.
- Our KidPower Leadership Board is highly visible at pre-curtain, in the lobby, and at our community performances.
- 35-45 international students will be home-hosted by our families in the summer.
EDUCATION
- Our performing arts classes will serve 150-200 students ages 4-19 in two 13-week semesters during the school year.
- Our Touring Company of auditioned students (ages 6-19) rehearses weekly, adapting for 3-4 monthly performances at different venues in the community.
- Our summer performing arts and international camps will serve 300-350 kids ages 4-21, including 35-45 international students from Italy, Germany, Australia, China, and Mexico.
- 60-70 kids (ages 6-24) will serve on the summer KidPower Leadership Team, receiving 24-61 hours of leadership education and training.
- The KidPower Leadership Board serves high school students during the school year and includes executive and alumni mentorship.
- 75+ Scholarships valued at $40,000-$50,000 will be granted for tuition support for class and camp.
EXPERIENCE
- We will produce 4 times in the Scott Theatre. These productions will provide on-stage experience for about 300-350 cast members and technical theatre experience for 20-25 youth apprentices.
- KidPower Board members will manage a $45,000 budget and present at our monthly Board Meetings.
- The KidPower Education Team will assist teachers with classroom management throughout the school year.
