Florida State Head Football Coach, Jimbo Fisher, and his wife, Candi, founded Kidz1stFund in 2011 after their younger son, Ethan, was diagnosed with a rare and incurable blood disorder called Fanconi anemia. Fanconi anemia (FA) causes a variety of health issues and eventually leads to bone marrow failure, requiring that the FA patient receive a bone marrow transplant. FA patients are also at a much greater risk for developing cancers earlier in life than a typical person. Kidz1stFund's mission is to raise awareness and funds for Fanconi anemia research in the hopes of finding a cure for Ethan and the many other FA patients. Since 2011, Kidz1stFund has raised and donated almost $3 million towards FA research at the Fanconi Anemia Comprehensive Care Program at the University of Minnesota. Great strides are being made to make bone marrow transplants easier and safer for FA patients but we still have a long way to go to fight this terrible disease. Kidz1stFund's ultimate goal is not a dollar figure. It is a cure, so that Ethan and the other kids with Fanconi anemia may lead full, happy lives. Together we can fight FA for the thousands affected by the disease. Please visit www.Kidz1stFund.com for more information.
