Kierras Hope

Kierra's Hope began as a ministry to children that had to be removed from their homes due to unsafe situations. The ministry was named in honor of a child that was affected by child abuse. Often times children leave their homes with little or no personal items. Our goal was to provide comfort to children during the time of transition.  Kierra's Hope provides a backpack which may include toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, comb, small stuffed animal, and blanket.  Due to economics and stress put on familes the ministry expanded to provide food, personal hygiene products, clothing, school supplies and other household items. Our purpose was to eliminate the everyday stresses that come with providing a meal or clothing for families; therefore possibly deterring an incident of child abuse.  Assistance is also given to individuals that encounter disasters such as house fires and most recently tornados that occured this year.  We are not a thrift store.  We rely strictly on donations. Services are provided free of charge to families with care to allow them to maintain their dignity. Our vision for this ministry is larger than what we are able to do at this time.  Many people are homeles; we want to be able to provide showers and a laundry area for individuals and families.  To expand our ministry in these areas we are in need of a larger building.  Kierra's Hope wants to give hope to those who feel hopeless and to make a difference in the lives of the families in Lawrence County.  Our mission statement is : When we find a need, we will meet it; when we find a hurt, we will heal it; by doing small things with great love, thereby changing our community and county.
