Founded in 2010, Kings County Tennis League (KCTL) brings free weekly tennis classes to over 200 children ages five through 15 living in five public housing developments in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn from May through October. The participants from each housing development—Marcy, Tompkins, Lafayette Gardens, Sumner, and Brevoort—comprise a tennis "club" with their own team jersey and volunteer group.

By bringing tennis directly to children, KCTL provides youth with access to a healthy activity that stimulates their growth. An individual sport, tennis promotes personal responsibility and aids in the development of self-esteem.

The program's volunteer corps exposes youth participants to new concepts, cultures, people, and possibilities. KCTL's 100+ volunteers are dedicated and diverse individuals, with professions in fields including law, STEM, business management, medical, education, and media.

In addition to tennis, KCTL engages its youth participants through discussions about communication, healthy eating, school, values, and the environment during each class. Students are also invited to attend unique field trips to educational sites throughout New York City.
