The mission of KIPP Bay Area Schools is to operate high-achieving public schools in educationally underserved communities, developing in our students the knowledge, skills and character essential to thrive in college, shape their futures, and positively impact the world.

Thanks to the generosity of the Charles B. Kuhn Memorial Fund, every dollar you donate today will be matched up to $10,000! Your gift will support our schools in East San Jose.

KIPP Heartwood Academy opened in 2004 as the first public charter school in Alum Rock and is now in the top eight percent of all public schools in the state. Because of the incredible success of KIPP Heartwood and the demand from local families, we are thrilled to be offering the community more choices starting in Fall 2014 with the opening of two additional middle schools. With your support, KIPP Prize Preparatory will open in the Alum Rock school district, and KIPP Heritage Academy will open in the Franklin-McKinley school district to offer families in East San Jose high-quality education options.

KIPP in the Bay Area began with a founding class of fifth graders at KIPP Bridge Charter School in West Oakland in 2002, and has grown to enroll over 2,800 students today across eight KIPP schools in the Bay Area. We serve an additional 1,300 alumni who are supported by our KIPP Through College program to ensure they remain on the path through college. Of  the students we serve, 97 percent are students of color and 75 percent qualify for the federal free and reduced-price meals program.

  • 2,800 students served across 8 schools
  • 1.300 alumni supported through KIPP Through College
  •  If KIPP Bay Area Schools were a district, it would rank in the top 7% of all public middle and high school districts in CA.
