The Kirov Academy of Ballet has become the most famous and influential classical ballet school in the US.  However, to continue to produce dancers of this quality, to present the exciting performances the public has come to expect, we need your support!

Founded in 1990, the Kirov Academy of Ballet (KAB) is the only residential school in the US offering both classic ballet training and an accredited academic high school program under one roof; it remains the only school outside of Russia with the right to use the “Kirov” name. With an artistic faculty among the strongest of any ballet-training academy in the world, KAB upholds and represents an important tradition and legacy in classical ballet. In addition to its Year-Round, Pre-Professional and Summer Intensive training programs, KAB now offers Evening and Weekend ballet instruction through its Early Prep Program (for ages 2 – 6) and its Pre-Academy Program (for ages 6 – 14).

Over the years, KAB has consistently produced dancers who are medal winners at major international ballet competitions; with more than 75% of its students going on to join professional dance companies upon graduation. Recognized as “an essential asset for dance in America,” KAB has trained many of the world’s finest ballet dancers who have gone on to perform with such professional companies as The Washington BalletAmerican Ballet TheatreSan Francisco Ballet, and the Royal Ballet, to name but a few.

Through bi-annual performance series, KAB provides top quality entertainment and a wide variety of education and outreach programs, fostering a greater understanding of and appreciation for the art of dance. Our performance series are viewed by audiences as not-to-be-missed events where you can see the stars of tomorrow dance today in sold-out shows. Past performance highlights include, Serenade, La Bayadère, Swan Lake, and Giselle.

The quality of the ballet raining that KAB has offered its students over the years, coupled with the level of performance excellence demonstrated by its graduates, distinguishes KAB from other ballet/dance training programs nationally and internationally. Now more than ever, we need your support and invite you to join us in preserving the proud legacy and tradition of excellence for which the Kirov Academy of Ballet has come to be known!

KAB exists to continue the legacy of classical Russian ballet in the United States and make it relevant to today’s dancers and the public. In order to do that, KAB relies on donations from generous individuals through its Friends of KAB.
