The mission statement of the Kitsap Computing Seniors (KCS) is to enhance the Kitsap County area residents' knowledge, skills, and enjoyment of computers and associated technologies. KCS offers FREE computer classes, Special Interest Groups presentations and technical ZOOM labs to ALL ages. KCS was founded in 1992, and has provided over 1000 hours training per year to the present time. Visit our website:   www.KitsapComputingSeniors.org for event schedules and membership information.

We encourage attendees at these classes and technical labs to attend General Membership meetings, to join KCS to receive benefits from our Special Interest Groups, KCS Tech List, the monthly Newsletter, and to support the New Horizons program. The New Horizons program distributes refurbished DONATED computers and laptops to low income residents, disadvantaged youth and families, and nonprofits at NO cost.

Since 2007, KCS has donated more than 175 PCs to individuals and nonprofits in the Kitsap County area.  Organizations that have benefited include Kitsap Rescue Mission, Fishline, West Sound Treatment Center, St Vincent de Paul for the women shelter, Retsil Veterans Home. Coffee Oasis, and the Kitsap Homes of Compassion, and ten laptops are used for our Absolute Beginner computer classes taught by our volunteers twice monthly at the Sylvan Way Branch of the Kitsap Regional Library.

*In one case, a family of six (two with special needs) were struggling financially and New Horizons donated a computer for the children to complete their homework.  It made a world of difference for them.

In February of 2019, KCS provided several laptops to the West Sound Treatment Center.  They have created a computer lab for the homeless in searching for employment and improving their way of life.  In 2020, KCS presented 14 laptops to the Coffee Oasis for their computer lab, which was created for homeless youth to assist them in locating employment and improving their lives.  The Kitsap County schools are providing Chrome Books to the students; however, KCS will offer laptops or computers to families needing the homework support for their children. In 2021, in spite of the pandemic, 24 computers were donated, the most donated in a single year.

If you have any computers or laptops to donate, please contact us at:  KCSNewHorizons@gmail.com.  These donations from individuals, businesses, and organizations will certainly help to support our mission.  You are welcome and encouraged to join our volunteer TEAM in striving to make a difference in the lives of many individuals and families within Kitsap County.

KCS is a non-profit organization that is in dire need of financial support to continue offering educational opportunities to the citizens in the Kitsap County area. Unfortunately, we have a limited annual income from membership dues and donations by KCS members.  The KCS goal for the 2023 Kitsap Great Goal is $1,500 to support our mission for this year.  Your generous donation to support our goal will be greatly appreciated and put to good use in our refurbishment program.

Note:  All of the KCS instructors and computer technicians are volunteers and receive no income for their time and service toward our mission.  .
