KORE ACADEMY INC

Mekai entered KORE Academy as a third grader, reading at a first grade level. Working with Becky Malone, KORE's reading specialist, Mekai is now reading 3 grade levels higher! In his second year at KORE, he is reading Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing--independently!

KORE Academy serves students like Mekai with various learning differences such as dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, language based learning disabilities, processing or sensory disorders, and more. Our program is individualized and highly structured to provide success for each student in school and in life.

KORE operates solely on tuition, private donations, and some grants. We currently have 36 students in grades 1-12.

When kids feel overwhelmed in school, many shut down, and lose their enthusiasm for learning and their self confidence. Some students try to hide their learning issues and blend in. If theirs is a class of 25 or more students, this can be easy to do.

At KORE, these students find small classes and teachers who use differentiated learning techniques to teach core material. They slow down the pace, and even allow students to chew gum (amazing how this increases attention!) and have movement breaks.

Students who have arrived frustrated academically and often, socially as well, emerge over time as confident, enthusiastic learners. For some this change occurs in a matter of days or weeks, for others, particularly the older they are when they arrive, it can take the better part of a year.
