Kristi Yamaguchi Always Dream Foundation

An accomplished children’s book author and mom, Kristi’s passion for reading ignited our Foundation’s commitment to early childhood literacy. In 2012, we launched Always Reading as our core program and continuously work to connect children with e-books and technology in both the classroom and through community events.  

 Always Reading focuses on the development of early childhood literacy skills for students in Kindergarten through 1st grade. A key element to the program is providing 21st century technology by integrating e-reader tablets and digital books in the classroom. Parents will be trained to share books with their children using “parent-friendly” researched-based practices, specifically, parents will be oriented around the importance of their role in their children’s learning and building skills to share books through digital technology.

ADF has launched Always Reading in underserved classrooms in Fremont, Oakland, Concord, San Jose, Santa Clara, Redwood City and San Francisco. During the 2014-2015 academic year, the Always Reading Program will serve 1,640 students in 66 classrooms across the SF Bay Area, Arizona and Hawaii!
