For more than 30 years, Kúkátónón Children’s African Dance Troupe has successfully taught African cultural traditions to hundreds of student performers, and excited hundreds of thousands of audience members with our unique artistic dance and drum program. Since our program is provided to mainly low-income African American children in the Portland metro area, there is no charge to participants, other than a token registration fee of $50 that is waived in special circumstances.

It takes 100% of our fundraising efforts, in grant writing and soliciting individual and business contributions for our Annual Gala, to cover our program expenses and modest administrative costs. Our success has led to a growing demand by youth to participate in the Troupe, and increasing requests by schools and community organizations for free or low-cost performances.

The Kúkátónón Village Circle Membership Program is one of several steps we are taking so we can respond to our community, and ensure the long-term sustainability of our organization and our program. With a predictable, year-to-year annual level of financial support from Kúkátónón Village Circle Memberships, we will know that a significant portion of our programmatic and operational expenses are covered.
