Author and thought-leader Kurt Vonnegut, born and raised in Indianapolis, stated numerous times that his hometown had a profound impact on his life. The Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library (KVML), located in downtown Indianapolis, is dedicated to championing Kurt Vonnegut’s legacy and the principles of free expression and common decency.

In 2023, KVML will celebrate Kurt Vonnegut’s support for education. The year will feature in-person and virtual programs that examine the role of education in society, provide opportunities for learning, and discuss tools for action against censorship. With increased book banning in the headlines, KVML’s work for free speech is more important than ever. We will explore teacher advocacy and continue our efforts to stop book challenges and bans. KVML will also unveil a new exhibition that explores Vonnegut’s educational experience, his influence on education, and your educational experience.

Make an impact by investing in our efforts to educate and make change! Support Core of the American Experience: Kurt Vonnegut and Education to educate and inspire people globally.
