KY IEP Advocate

KY IEP Advocate is dedicated to empowering parents to be the best advocate for their children in the special education process while promoting inclusion throughout the community. An overwhelming majority of parents and teachers have no one in the school to turn to when they have questions about an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Resources explaining the special education process and the services students are entitled to are limited and convoluted. Parents, teachers and providers are left with unanswered questions and need accessible, accurate, reliable information to advocate for students. Through a multi-sensory approach, parents are equipped with the tools they need to navigate each stage of their child’s education process - from preschool to high school. As a result, students with IEPs are learning more and engaging better in school.

KY IEP Advocate is building a well-informed community with free access to individual and group training sessions tailored to the current questions and needs of the participants. This allows families of all income backgrounds access to resources inside and outside the classroom free of charge. As of September 2024, KY IEP Advocate has supported 596 individual families with personalized advocacy support for their children. 

We are expanding our inclusive programming for kids in 2024 and we look forward to continuing to build a more empowered and accessible community in Kentucky!
