The Trooper Kyle Deatherage Memorial

A nonprofit organization

The Memorial was created in 2013 in memory of Illinois State Trooper Kyle Deatherage. Kyle was killed in the line of duty on November 26, 2012, leaving behind his wife, Sarah, and two young children. He was fun, friendly, and energetic, had a passion for law enforcement, and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

The Trooper Kyle Deatherage Memorial makes it a priority to recognize the vital and dangerous role that officers play in keeping everyone safe. We strive to pay forward the love and support that Kyle's family received in their time of need to other families of first responders killed or critically injured in the line of duty.

Every April, the Memorial hosts a 5K & Kids Fun Run to celebrate Kyle's birthday. This is our main fundraiser and has allowed us to support dozens of families as they begin their new journeys post-injury or loss. Over the past five years, our donations have stocked an officer's fridge and pantry; helped cover transportation costs; and provided Christmas to children who had just lost a parent. Whether it's finding small ways to thank local law enforcement during National Police Week or sending a simple card to a devastated family to remind them that they're not alone, our goal is to honor the men and women who risk their lives each and every day to protect others.

Please remember to exercise caution when on the roads and Move Over when you see flashing lights on the side of the road. Remember - there is a family behind every uniform and a split second choice can impact many lives forever.
