Center for Sustainable Engagement & Development

A nonprofit organization

The mission of CSED is to create a sustainable environment through education, advocacy and civic engagement. Rehabilitating regional wetlands as well as greening the built environment have been our benchmark organizational goals since we were founded in 2006. Our purpose is to uplift community-driven goals and inter-generational voices as a pathway toward more equitable outcomes within resilience policies and climate protection projects.

Co-founded in 2006 by the late Pam Dashiell, CSED began as a project of the Holy Cross Neighborhood Association with start-up funding from individual donors and environmental organizations. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, we helped to rebuild underserved communities with smart, sustainable, and energy-efficient methods. Today, we are a leader in the coastal restoration and climate resilience fields, as policy innovators and project planners.
