As one of Southern California’s leading presenters of premier performing arts, La Jolla Music Society contributes to San Diego’s cultural vitality year-round through a rich variety of presentations, including classical, jazz, global roots, contemporary music, and dance. In addition to robust educational programs and community outreach, La Jolla Music Society produces SummerFest, a four-week music festival featuring more than 80 world-class artists and ensembles performing eclectic concerts at our home, The Conrad.

Our Mission: To enhance cultural life and engagement by presenting and producing a wide range of programming of the highest artistic quality, and to make The Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center a vibrant and inclusive hub.

Our History: La Jolla Music Society is heir to a distinguished tradition reaching back to the Musical Arts Society of La Jolla founded in 1941 by Nikolai Sokoloff, former conductor of the Cleveland Orchestra. In 1968, the La Jolla Chamber Music Society was established, with the mission of presenting the finest classical music and musicians in the world. In its first seasons the Society sponsored the La Jolla Chamber Orchestra and presented soloists; it has grown into a major presenter of classical music in San Diego County and leading presenter in the West.
