La Porte County Symphony Orchestra’s Vision:
LCSO will be recognized as a major and unique cultural asset characterized by:
A group of musicians who had the desire to perform together and work on their skills, started this orchestra for the love of music. Through the years, this group accomplished the musicians' goals and in the process became a community leader, well known for collaborations and community engagement. Not only do they perform an extensive repertoire in a varied season of concerts, but the group also is known for creativity in making successful events and championing important causes with a wide range of other performing arts and social service organizations.
Musically, this orchestra continually raises the bar for generating quality classical concerts, emotionally filled opera, contemporary pop, sensational jazz or making hybrid concerts that incorporate multimedia aspects to complement the music.
Socially, they have raised awareness on a range of health issues, and with the arts, they have incorporated visual arts, dance and vocalists to perform with them in venues that reach underserved rural areas as well as an interurban underserved population in La Porte County.
Donations for this campaign will go toward the educational aspects of the organization that bring symphonic music to children, specifically:
*The education concerts held in October, which reach public, private schools and home-school students from a seven county area.
*A policy that allows children and students including those with a college I.D. gives free admission to attend three of the season concerts.
*The student apprentice program, which is best described as a platform where auditioned high school students perform alongside the experienced orchestra musicians during a rehearsal cycle and for a concert performance.
