Mission

Lakewood Playhouse’s mission is to build community through theatre.  We aim to present work that entertains, educates and enlightens the full breadth of the human experience.  We strive to foster an atmosphere of respect and belonging for ALL, and create a space where everyone is seen, heard, uplifted and empowered.

 

About Us

Lakewood Playhouse was founded in 1938.  We have a 175 seat theatre that performs shows in the round in the Seattle/Tacoma metropolitan area in the Lakewood Towne Center.

 

Annual Appeal 2025

Over the past twelve months we have re-engaged and expanded upon our mission to Build Community Through Theatre.  We have welcomed audiences to Lakewood from across the state and the country, increased ticket sales by 43%, and revitalized our educational programming.

We believe Lakewood Playhouse can be a force for positive change in our regional theatre scene and become a cultural ambassador for our community.  We are The Little Playhouse That Could.  But we need your help!

With the launch of our 2025 Annual Appeal, we are continuing our 87th Season of plays that each tell a story of finding and using our voices to uplift each other, serve our community, and speak truth to power.

Ticket sales and education fees only make up a small portion of what it takes to run the Playhouse.  In order to keep Lakewood Playhouse alive and continue on our journey we rely on the support of individuals like you.  If you have the capacity to give even a little bit to help Lakewood Playhouse continue to serve its community we would be so grateful.  If you have the capacity to consider a larger season or show sponsorship, please reach out to us directly for more information.

Recognition

We recognize our Board of Directors and other community resources who have helped bolster us during the past years, we honor the amazing community of local artists and talent who are the main force behind the high-quality productions we have come to be known for, and we thank the patrons and donors who support us and live theatre in its many shapes and forms.
