In 2025, we connected with over 1,800 farmers, landowners, and service providers who took advantage of our training through more than 50 workshops. Our field team responded to 370 requests for support, providing individualized guidance and resulting in improved land tenure or farm transfers for at least 24 individuals—helping to sustain more than 3,125 acres of active agriculture. Farmers like Emmy.  

After farming in managerial roles for eight years, Emmy decided to follow her dream and start looking for her own farmland. It took two years to find the right opportunity, but Emmy was delighted to discover “an amazing find” on New England Farmland Finder. As conversations with the landowner began moving forward, it quickly became clear that finding land was only the first step. This wasn’t simply about gaining access to acreage for a season or two. It was about building a stable foundation for a farm business that allowed for future planning, investment, and growth.

“Land For Good made a huge difference! Having someone show me what standard lease agreements looked like, and what to include was a significant help. I would have left out so many pieces I wouldn’t have known to include. Their knowledge especially around infrastructure and the average cost of land in the area was key,” shared Emmy of Little Light Farm, Amherst, MA.

Land For Good helped Emmy move from uncertainty to clarity by crafting a lease that would ensure business stability from the start. We offered examples of standard lease agreements, guidance on key provisions, expertise around infrastructure and repair considerations, knowledge of average land costs, help to interpret complex legal language, and advocacy in conversations with the landowner.
