THE LAND TRUST for the MISSISSIPPI COASTAL PLAIN NEEDS YOUR HELP TODAY TO CONTINUE OUR IMPORTANT WORK AS A LEGACY FOR TOMORROW.

Over these past years, here along the Gulf Coast our people, wildlife and natural resources have been battered by natural and man-made disasters. The widespread destruction of Hurricane Katrina was followed by the massive BP Oil Spill. Stress from these events is still felt by all who live in the area, and that includes our natural resources and native wildlife.

We will never replace the one million trees lost in this State to Katrina, but we can sure try. Through our "Replant South Mississippi" project, LTMCP has helped replant over 70,000 trees to date.

We can't undue any damage from any oil spill, but we can conserve bayou properties and develop Blueways for paddlers to enjoy. In these past few years, LTMCP has helped develop and establish Blueways for paddlers on Old Fort Bayou, on the Wolf River, the Jourdan River and Red Creek.

The Mississippi Coastal Plain is a patchwork of diverse habitats and histories that can be found nowhere else in the world. These irreplaceable plant and animal communities include tidal and freshwater rivers, oxbows, tidal and freshwater marshes, pine savannas and flatwoods, upland pine forests, and bayhead forests and swamps. These ecosystems are inter-dependent, and they play essential roles in the quality of life in South Mississippi. These places are productive, fragile, and beautiful.

Land preservation organizations called “Land Trusts,” work to preserve properties like these for future generations. We welcome everyone, landowners and non-landowners, who share the stewardship ideals of the Land Trust to join with our organization to protect delicate and important resources.

With over 5,000 acres of property in permanent conservation within the six coastal counties of southern Mississippi, the Land Trust for the Mississippi Coastal Plain takes our commitment seriously to always be good stewards of the land under our umbrella of permanent protection.

As a 14 year old locally organized, non-profit organization, LTMCP must rely on memberships and donations to support our work. Mississippi is not a wealthy state, so we hope Razoo will help us reach out to others who understand and support conservation to support our important work with their thoughtful donations. Our organization has an independent audit performed annually, and over 90% of our annual operational budget goes to direct conservation expenses. LTMCP is the only land trust in the State of Mississippi that is accredited by the national Land Trust Alliance.

We ask for your important donation today. Thank you for your consideration.
