Las Vegas Okinawan Club, also known as Las Vegas Okinawa Kenjinkai has been registered as a domestic Non-Profit organization in the State of Nevada since July 22, 2011. The club was founded by 10 Okinawan women originally and it has grown to more than 170 members including individual, families, local businesses, volunteers, and supporters as of March, 2023. Las Vegas Okinawan Club is exempt from federal income tax under IRC Section 501(c)(3) and is classified as a public charity status 509(a)((2). 

Our Mission and Purpose

The purpose of the Las Vegas Okinawan Club is to improve the well-being, health and quality of life of Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders, immigrant families and other community members by advocating for social-economic equity, sharing resources and empowering individuals through education, training and public awareness campaigns to create vibrant multicultural community while promoting Japanese and Okinawan culture. 

Las Vegas Okinawan Club Members

Las Vegas Okinawan Club consists of Okinawans, Japanese, those who have a relationship with Okinawa or are interested in Okinawan and Japanese people and its culture.We have members who are Okinawan, Japanese, Korean, Chinese,  Filipino, Indian, Hawaiian, Pacific Islanders, African American and other ethnicities. It is important that our club stays inclusive to all of our community members including other cultures, ethnicities and LGBTQ community members. As of Marcy 2023, there are approximately 170 people including individual members, family members, business members and supporters. Everyone is welcome! 

Community Service

Our CSR charitable initiatives/projects allow us to take a more deliberate approach to doing good and demonstrate our values to meet the mission. We will contribute to meaningful social charitable projects to achieve these goals: 

1)  To take a more active role in shaping our Las Vegas community for the better. 

2) To build more relationships between community members, nonprofits and businesses of all sizes, creating wide-reaching philanthropic networks and support systems.

At this time, we are all participating as a volunteer with no paid employees and our projects are funded by generous donors and members. We appreciate your support! 

Las Vegas Okinawan Club has several partnerships with local nonprofits and communities to better serve our Southern Nevada community! Our community service initiatives include: 

1. Shannon West Youth Homeless Center - Dessert /baking goods delivery to Shannon West Youth Homeless Center once a month together with Ninth Island Aunties.

2. Hunger Relief and Education Support for At-risk Children - Las Vegas Okinawan Club participates in Back-to-School Event to distribute school supplies, Easter Food Basket Giveaway and early literacy books each year. 

3. Senior Services for Minority and Immigrant Individuals and Families - Las Vegas Okinawan Club's Keiro program offers dependent older adults, a warm, safe and encouraging environment. Our friendly and professional volunteers provide:

  • Social interaction
  • Assortment of stimulating, structured activities including music, games, art
  • Gentle exercise
  • Wellness activities, health screening

For families caring for a dependent older relative, can feel confident that their loved one is being cared for in a safe and nurturing setting.  Volunteers in the Keiro Senior Services program are bilingual

4. Ronald Mcdonald House Charities Greater Las Vegas - members cook for the families of sick children fighting for their health at Sunrise Children's Hospital with Ninth Island Aunties. The facility accommodates rooms. We provide ingredients and cook dinner for the family members that are staying. Please sisit RMH at https://rmhlv.org/   

5. Las Vegas Homeless Camp Food Distribution - members help coordinate food pickup and deliver for food distribution to a homeless camp near the Las Vegas Strip once a month. Our partnership with "The Promise" allows for helping those in need. Please visit https://www.instagram.com/thepromiselv/. 

6. Food Drive for Struggling Families - Las Vegas Okinawan Club's new initiative is to help to feed families and individuals in need in our Southern Nevada community, and food and monetary gifts donated by caring community members are a vital part of making that happen. If you have non-perishable food you are not using or not going to consume, please consider to donate and drop them off at our club events and gatherings.
