The Latino Youth Leadership Conference was developed through an initiative of the Latin Chamber of Commerce Education Committee in 1993, with the purpose of increasing college-going rates among Latinos and Latinas, and developing their leadership skills.

The LYLC started as a three-day conference at the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Today, students experience college life by staying at the dorms of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas for six days and five nights. During their stay, participants are introduced to different social topics, explore their cultural identity, and are empowered to continue their education through college and career exploration sessions and mentorship.

High School students between the ages of 16 and 18 are encouraged to apply. Participants are selected from all socio-economic backgrounds, academic standings, and from all over the state of Nevada.

Participants attend the LYLC at NO cost to the student or their families. All accommodations and materials are provided.

The LYLC is completely run by dedicated and passionate volunteers. The day to day operations of the Latino Youth Leadership Conference are executed through the Latino Youth Leadership Foundation, officially established as a 501C3 non-profit organization in 2015.
