League of Women Voters of the Redding Area

Empowering Voters. Defending Democracy.

The League of Women Voters of the Redding Area is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization working to educate and empower Shasta County voters.

We do not support or oppose candidates or political parties. Our role is to help voters access the information and opportunities they need to learn about candidates, elections and issues and make their own decisions at the ballot box.

The Redding Area League has been working on behalf of Shasta County voters since 1960, carrying forward 106 years of League of Women Voters work across the United States.

What we do

• Voter registration
League volunteers take voter registration into the community, helping connect local residents with the opportunity to register and participate in elections.
• Candidate forums
We create nonpartisan opportunities for voters to hear directly from candidates seeking local office. Community members can learn about the race, hear candidates respond to questions and become better informed before casting their ballots.
• Voter education
Through brown bag luncheons, ballot initiative discussions and voter resources, the League helps make information about government, elections and ballot issues more accessible to the public.
• Voter information and outreach
Our website, social media and electronic Voter Services help us share timely, accurate and unbiased information with Shasta County voters.

Our work in 2026

In 2026, League volunteers have continued this work throughout Shasta County through voter registration and outreach, voter education resources and a series of local candidate forums.

These efforts put the League’s mission into action by helping local voters access information, hear directly from candidates and prepare to make their own decisions at the ballot box.

This Giving Tuesday, help us strengthen Voter Services.

As our political environment changes, the League works to provide Shasta County voters with timely, accurate and unbiased information about elections, candidates and ballot issues.

To continue reaching voters effectively, our communication tools need to keep pace. This year, we’re raising $5,000 to upgrade and expand our Voter Services, including the electronic systems we use to share information through our website and social media.

Funds raised through this campaign will help modernize those systems and provide training for the volunteers who use them. The League plans to engage local firms in this work and, if possible, computer and information systems students from Shasta College.

The League is an all-volunteer organization operating on a frugal budget. Your support helps us strengthen the tools we use to reach Shasta County voters with timely, accurate and unbiased information.

Please consider helping us reach our $5,000 goal.

Many thanks from the League and all the voters of Shasta County for your support.
