Mission

Founded in 1970, TLC became the first school for deaf children in Massachusetts, and one of the first schools for the deaf in the country to implement a bilingual/bicultural approach in educating deaf children. The school believes that deaf and hard of hearing students have the right to maximize their personal, educational, social, communicative and vocational potential through participating in demanding educational experiences, which develop their ability to think creatively and critically. With early access to American Sign Language and English, TLC students develop positive self-identities and the skills to be successful participants in both the Hearing and Deaf Communities.

Parent/Infant Program, children from infancy to 3 years of age; Preschool Program, children ages 3 & 4; Kindergarten Program, students 5 years of age; Elementary School, students ages 6 to 12; Middle School, students ages 11 to 14; High School, students ages 15 to 21; Special Needs Program for students with cognitive or behavioral disabilities; Walden School, a residential treatment program for deaf children and adolescents between the ages of 8 to 21 who are challenged by severe social and emotional difficulties resulting from childhood trauma, mental illness and or organic dysfunction.
