About Us

Lede New Orleans is a nonprofit community journalism organization. We train creatives to make media that informs and inspires New Orleans. We do that through:

Training & Mentorship: Our Community Reporting Fellowship is a paid, 16-week training program for emerging BIPOC and LGBTQ+ creatives, age 18-25. Fellow learn the basics of multimedia community journalism by reporting on a topic that matters to their community. We also offer media training and workshops to the public.

Community Events: We produce events that center community voices and stories, including listening sessions, which inform the work of the Community Reporting Fellowship; storytelling exhibits; and discussion series.

Content: We produce media that meets local information needs, promotes agency in our communities and centers BIPOC voices.

What is Lede New Orleans fundraising for?

We are currently fundraising to purchase cameras and media equipment to support six young people in our paid Community Reporting Fellowship program. Our fellows currently share four cameras. The additional equipment will help more young storytellers practice visual storytelling skills. Help us equip emerging BIPOC and LGBTQ+ storytellers in New Orleans with tools and resources to make media that informs and inspires their community!
