Leeds Outreach

This organization has existed for years to provide food for the families in Leeds who are hungry and in need of assistance.  It also provides utility assistance to help keep families warm and prescription assistance to the families without sufficient resources to purchase needed medications. 

Leeds Outreach is funded by churches, businesses, civic clubs and individual donors and is administered by a volunteer staff of workers who minister to low-income families in need.

We see new clients every month who have had their hours cut at work or lost their jobs and never had to ask for any assistance in the past.  Some are even previous donors who have hit a rough spot in their lives and just need  a little help to get past the current loss of work, medical crisis, transportation problems or housing problems that have arisen.  The economy in the last few years has increased the number of first time clients seen in our office.  Many of the first time clients have or are about to lose their homes because of the loss of jobs.  While we do not have the resources for rent or mortgage payments, we try to help with what we can and refer the clients to agencies for other assistance.
