The Legacy Family Court Foundation supports specialty courts in the Dallas County family court system with support through awareness and funding programs. These specialty courts serve the most vulnerable in Dallas County: children who've been taken from their parents because of substance abuse; children whose parents have had their rights terminated; children and other victims of trafficking and abuse. The Legacy Family Court Foundation serves to educate the citizens of Dallas County about the needs of these children and their families by providing funding for the court so these children and their families can recover, be rehabilitated and reunited, wherever possible.
Our Needs
Grants and donations allow the Foundation to support these specialty courts in many different ways. For example, to help participants meet court deadlines and hearings, receive rehabilitation treatment, travel to necessary medical and dental appointments, job interviews and consistently show up to work. Funds also support clothing and food needs, psychological testing, expenses incurred for monitored drug/alcohol testing, analysis and counseling, and in some cases lodging expenses to relocate families to safer locales. The Court also supplies extra needs for children in foster care; school backpacks, books, school supplies, etc.
There are many ways you can support the Foundation including gifts of cash, gifts by credit card, in-kind services, gift card donations, gifts of stocks or securities, gifts of IRA funds, and planned gifts.
$60 supports two drug tests and analysis for one week per participant (minimum of two tests per week per participant required in the Court's 18-month program)
$300 subsidizes lodging and food costs per month per participant while they are in treatment and managing employment schedules and court hearings and visitation with their children (Judges of the Court manage these funds in a separate escrow account and distribute as needed and in emergencies)
$450 provides one week sober living options per participant so the participant can continue his or her rehabilitation after the residential or offsite treatments (typical to have 4-6 weeks of sober living resources after the initial rehabilitation treatment)
$3,000 provides thirty days of offsite rehabilitation treatment and counseling per participant
$5,000 provides for approximately two - three weeks of residential rehabilitation treatment and counseling per participant.
All donations are greatly appreciated and needed!
