Legacy Music Alliance

A nonprofit organization

26 Donors

Did you know that on average, a school owned instrument is estimated to be 25 years old! Even though schools work hard to take care of their instruments, it is difficult to keep these instruments performing over time.

Legacy Music Alliance’s (LMA) goal is to assure that every student has the chance to make meaningful music while in school. Because funding for music education in Utah is under constant threat, LMA’s mission is to help fill the gaps and increase the success of music educators and students.

To address this issue, Legacy Music Alliance manages two programs:

1. The Clinicians in the Classroom program which pays highly qualified professional musicians, retired teachers, and soloists to be in the classrooms of junior high and high schools throughout the state to work as clincians and mentors.

2. The Instruments to Students program helps with repairs of worn-out instruments and purchases of new ones for band and orchestra and keeps the piano tuned and buys other instruments for choir.

These programs assure that students can always perform at their best because their instruments are in good working order.

Jordan’s Story

Jordan was a trumpet player at Ben Lomond his sophomore year and due to family troubles he had to leave mid-year. He returned half way through his senior year, but he no longer had access to a trumpet. The school's trumpets were all checked out and he thought there wouldn't be any hope for him.

I (Mr. Jensen – band director) wish you could have seen the look on his face when he saw the trumpet that would be his to use!  Jordan had assumed that I would have to borrow an old beat-up trumpet from a middle school or junior high.  When I opened it up (the brand- new trumpet) for him and he saw it shining, his eyes were shining just as brightly.

WITH YOUR SUPPORT:

  • More Music Educators can increase their influence in the classroom
  • More Students will be impacted personally because even more instruments can be refurbished and purchased

Our intent is to raise $2,500! This will allow us to do the following:

  • Refurbish MORE instruments in school music departments across Utah
  • INCREASE the clinician and mentoring hours available to Music Educators

Thank you for making a SOUND decision to strengthen music education in Utah’s schools by supporting Legacy Music Alliance!
