The Lewiston Civic Theatre impacts the cultural life of Lewiston, Idaho and the surrounding region through quality entertainment, education and cultural enrichment programs that provide access to the performing arts for people of all ages and experience. The Lewiston Civic Theatre will remain the performing arts center of excellence in the Lewis-Clark Valley through quality stage presentations, in-depth workshops, and educational programs for all. Through leadership, education, participation and innovation we develop and promote a love and appreciation of theatre and the arts, beyond mere entertainment, within our community.
Did you know that most theatre grants are based on membership? It's true, before the government or a foundation will issue a grant to a theatre it first takes in to account the number of supporters/members that the theatre has attained. If the numbers are low the grant is denied. This is just one reason your membership is so important.
When you think of the Lewiston Civic Theatre your first thought may be of exciting musicals, or serious dramas, or gut busting comedies. Your first thought about the theatre probably isn't "Wow, I bet it costs and arm and a leg to heat this place in February!" but it's a fact. Like all businesses we have bills to pay and tickets sales alone won't cover the costs. In addition to securing grants, your membership/donation funds the day to day life of the theatre.
Another thought... the Lewiston Civic Theatre is about the programs we offer the community. Our new youth company "Acting Out" provides theatrical education and opportunity to perform to the valley's 8 to 14 year olds. Membership/donations, of course, plan an important role in keeping programs up and running.
All in all, there are several reasons to become a member and/or donate to the Lewiston Civic Theatre: grants, bills, programs, etcetera, but the most important reason to invest in the Lewiston Civic Theatre is to keep our community theatre open and growing. YOU make this possible for us to build each new season, and keep building beyond, creating a proud legacy of performing arts for the generations that come after us.
