LexArts is Greater Lexington’s official local arts agency and United Arts Fund, dedicated to creating opportunities for vibrant, high-quality arts experiences throughout Central Kentucky. Through leadership, funding, advocacy, programming, and communication, LexArts strengthens the arts and enriches our community.

As a catalyst for creativity and innovation, LexArts helps shape a thriving, progressive Lexington inspired by the arts. Each year, LexArts provides funding to more than 50 arts organizations and individual artists through grants such as General Operating Support and Community Arts Development Grants. Beyond grantmaking, LexArts leads beloved programs that bring art into everyday life, including the LexArts Gallery Hop, LexArts Network, Cultural Pass, public art initiatives, and more.

LexArts also owns and operates ArtsPlace, a historic landmark and creative hub that provides rehearsal and office space for local arts nonprofits. It’s also home to LexArts Gallery, one of Lexington’s premier visual art spaces, showcasing outstanding works by Kentucky artists.

Who We Are

LexArts' mission is to promote high quality arts experiences for the benefit of all the people of central Kentucky through funding advocacy, technical assistance, communication and programming initiatives.

LexArts creates an environment where the arts can flourish, facilitating the growth of grass roots arts initiatives, while strengthening and increasing the organizational capacity of our city's largest and highest-performing arts organizations. Lexington’s arts and cultural landscape is more vibrant than ever, driving economic activity, fostering tourism, increasing investment in our urban core and greatly enhancing the quality of life of our great American city.

Challenging. Extraordinary. Heartbreaking. We’re running out of ways to describe how life has changed these last few weeks.
But make no mistake, the arts always rise to the occasion.

LexArts supported artists and organizations are displaying the generosity of the creative spirit in these times like they do always have. LexPhil musicians broadcasting from their living rooms. Lexington Children’s Theatre webcasting virtual performances, play readings and Master Classes. Bluegrass Youth Ballet and Allegro Dance Project sharing creative projects and processes, inspiration and ideas. Institute 193 and The Lyric Theatre and Cultural Arts Center throwing open their doors for virtual gallery tours. The Carnegie Center sharing access to their catalogs of the written and spoken word. And so many more.
