As both the area arts council and united arts fund, LexArts provides a wide range of programs and services designed to integrate the arts into our daily lives

WHY ART MATTERS

All across central Kentucky, art impacts our businesses and families, our everyday life. Art enhances community well-being, encourages civic engagement, strengthens our economy and provides tools for learning new ideas. From the classroom to the boardroom, art provides a way to express concepts and questions that words alone cannot. Art helps us tell a story about where we’ve been, who we are and who we want to be.

WHERE ART MATTERS

Arts and culture organizations are economic drivers - supporting jobs, generating revenue, and spurring tourism. A strong arts culture is a hallmark of an economicaly vibrant city and that creates a competitive advantage by attracting new business and a well-educated workforce.

Children who participate in arts programs are more likely to be elected to class office, have perfect attendance and win awards in academic achievement. Studies have shown that students in "arts rich" environments do better in school regardless of economic status. Whether benefitting business or individual community members, art matters.

HOW ART MATTERS 

For 40 years, LexArts has been a catalyst to an economically vibrant community, incubator of arts innovation and advocate for the cultural well-being of central Kentucky. Through the Fund for the Arts campaign, LexArts provides general operating support, program and project grants and below-market rates on office, rehearsal and performance space to arts organizations which work every day to impact the lives of our citizens.

As a result of LexArts funding:

Children in 50 central Kentucky counties experience arts programming

7000 spectators experienced the arts first-hand through Gallery Hop

25,000 children attend free arts programs

200,000 children attend art camps, classes and performances

465,450 patrons attend arts events of six partner organizations
