Founded in 1938, LCT is one of the oldest continuously operating theatres for young people in the nation and is the State Children’s Theatre of Kentucky, a distinction granted to LCT by The Kentucky Legislature in 1986.  Annually, LCT serves over 130,000 children throughout the Commonwealth through our Main Stage performances, Education Department, Touring Productions, and Satellite Theatre based in Rowan and Elliott Counties.  Through these programs, LCT’s goal is to reach every child in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, regardless of geographic or economic barrier.

This year for #GivingTuesday we're celebrating #GivePlayDay! Join us on Facebook and Twitter to learn more about how you donation can help give PLAY to over 130,000 young people and families throughout the Bluegrass and beyond!

Thanks to pledges from the LCT Board of Directors and Sawyer's Downtown Grille your gifts will be matched up to $1,500.00! So, a donation of just $50.00 would be doubled and provide a scholarship for a Theatre School student!

Donations to our annual fund help in so many ways!

  • $25 will purchase arts and craft supplies for one of our theatre school classes.
  • $125 allows one classroom (20 students) to attend a performance at LCT.
  • $500 will subsidize tickets for eight families to attend a Pay What You Can performance.
  • $1,100 grants a school in Eastern Kentucky two of our touring productions.
