Lexington History Museum Inc

Incorporated  in 2000, the Lexington History Museum, Inc. opened in the former Fayette County Courthouse in October 2003 in a partnership with the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government. 
After almost 10 years of operation in the courthouse, having served more than 70,000 people, the building was discovered to have lead. Due to saftey factors the building was closed to the public.  We have not let this set back stop us from completing our mission.  We have increased our outreach programs to area schools, we are launching exhibits with partner organizations, and offer a varity of public programing.  We are currently working on finding a temporary location for the museum, and working with the city to restore the Old Fayette County Courthouse.
