LGBT Community Center Coalition of Central PA

A young person who participates on our COMMON ROADS youth programming recently said this about the group:

"The people in Common Roads are a second family for me. This is the only place I feel totally safe and accepted and it's a place to forget the bullies in school."

We are providing safe spaces for youth every week in Harrisburg, Carlisle, and Lancaster, and supporting youth efforts to form and sustain gay-straight alliance student groups throughout central PA.

Some of our other programs and services include:

• Staff training to ensure cultural competence of youth and aging service providers
• Two monthly social/educational programs for LGBT older adults
• An LGBT History Project which is recording, documenting, and displaying the history of central PA's LGBT community
• A monthly social/educational program for women
• Silent Witness Peacekeepers Alliance, providing a nonviolent barrier between LGBT eventgoers and those who would protest LGBT events
• Arts and culture programming that display the works of central PA's LGBT visual artists and spoken word poets
