Liberty Hill is your one-stop shop for LGBT equality in L.A.

After California's Prop 8 passed in 2008, the lesson was clear: Not enough work had been done to build support for marriage equality in communities of color. Liberty Hill’s historic leadership allowed us to reach out to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender leaders within communities of color on what was a highly sensitive issue.

Liberty Hill saw an opportunity for a win-win – to build power and strength where Los Angeles community leaders most saw the need (on issues like family and community acceptance, school bullying and immigrant rights) and to advance the marriage equality movement in California.

Check out some of the outstanding LGBT leaders that Liberty Hill supports:

  • Ariel Bustamante, an organizer with the Gay Straight Alliance Network in Southern California, is one of Liberty Hill's 2013 Leaders to Watch
  • Meet Eileen Ma, an organizer with Asian Pacific Islander Equality-Los Angeles and one of Liberty Hill's 2012 Leaders to Watch
  • Ari Gutiérrez and Eddie Martinez, activists with the Latino Equality Alliance and two of 2011's Leaders to Watch

Liberty Hill is proud to administer the Queer Youth Fund, which supports groups that empower young LGBTQ people across the country.
