Since 1985, the DC Public Library Foundation has mobilized our community's philanthropic spirit to enhance the DC Public Library's resources.  With support from corporate, foundation, government, and individual donors and in close cooperation with the Library, the DC Public Library Foundation provides the margin of excellence to supplement (but not supplant) local government funding. 

The DC Public Library Foundation:

• puts collections on library shelves;  
• provides learning opportunities for children and adults;  
• increases access to media and technology;  
• supports cultural events;  
• enhances library service capacity; and
• provides funds for facility improvements.
