Life Directions

Life Directions’ core values are: self-responsibility, balance in relationships, partnership in diversity, and mission driven attitude.  Life Directions promotes the powerful dynamic of “Peers Inspiring Peers” in our neighborhoods, high schools, and middle schools. The values promoted by, and incorporated through, our core programs benefit young men and women throughout their life so they can mature into excellent adults capable of giving life to their families and communities. In this respect, Life Directions represents a proven, prudent investment in our future, from generation to generation, compounding with time.

Life Directions programs include a proven curriculum. Our sessions focus on improving educational outcomes, support, leadership, lifelong learning, inspiring achievement & success for future careers/college.  During students' journey from eighth grade through high school & graduation, mentees experience positive change with their high school mentors.  High School Peer Mentors receive intergenerational mentorship & guidance from Adult Coaches who help high school students prepare for college & vocational choices. Students participate in a career fair & summer employment through support of Grow Detroit's Young Talent (GDYT). Youth receive necessary skills to secure & maintain employment.   They receive hands-on work experience guided by LD staff with tasks and activities that equip youth with the skills for future employment.
