Lighthouse

A letter from one of our seniors.

 

I have been coming to Lighthouse since I was in the sixth grade. I remember going with my brother and sister and we were all terrified of going in this big strange building. Right away I fell in love with the place, the kids, the staff, the sense of family I have when I'm there. I've been through unique events in my life, some I brought on myself, and Lighthouse has always been there to help me re-group, supply me with what I need, encourage me, congratulate me, whatever I needed they tried to help. Not only has this place become my family away from home, but also my academic crutch. When I was very ill and out of school for awhile, Lighthouse helped me get my grades back up in a short period of time, something I wouldn't have done myself. When I first started high school, Lighthouse helped me with organization skills and time management. While I've lived through poverty, I've had some rich experiences thank to Lighthouse. I've been able to buy gifts for my family, attend numerous Nebraska Huskers football games, reward myself for hard work and even give back to my community.
