Join Us in Giving A #SecondChance to Primates Affected by Wildlife Crime
This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to join us in our mission to enhance the psychological and physical well-being of the rescued primates at the Limbe Wildlife Centre (LWC). We aim to raise $2,500 to support our essential enrichment programme, which ensures that our beloved residents can experience a #SecondChance at life filled with exploration and play.
Why Enrichment Matters...
Enrichment is a fundamental aspect of animal care. It promotes natural behaviours that are often stifled in a captive environment, allowing our rescued primates to exercise their natural instincts and skills. Mental and physical stimulation through activities like puzzles and foraging are proven to reduce stress in captive environments and can drastically improve a rescued animal's quality of life. As you consider your end-of-year giving, remember that your contributions directly impact the daily lives of these beautiful and complex beings. Your donations will help us provide diverse and stimulating activities, which include:
🐵 Feeding enrichment techniques: Foraging items like peanuts, corn, and soya beans that encourage natural hunting behaviors, simultaneously increasing exercise while reducing boredom.
🐵 Physical challenges: Leaf parcels that require effort to open and puzzle boards that stimulate cognitive skills like problem-solving.
🐵 Sensory experiences: Ice blocks filled with treats, bamboo sticks for tool use, and termite mounds for foraging all engage the animal's senses, including taste, temperature, and texture.
With rising costs for materials and food, your support is crucial for sustaining and expanding our enrichment programme, ensuring our primates lead enjoyable and fulfilling lives.

Meet Etinde: A Story of Hope
Let us introduce you to Etinde, a precious Preuss’s monkey who captured our hearts. Arriving at our sanctuary on December 23rd, 2023, Etinde has shown remarkable resilience and growth since her rescue. At just 1-2 months old at the time, Etinde was timid and displayed emotional and physical trauma. To improve Etinde's mental state and prepare her for integration into a social group, our staff utilized enrichment to strengthen her curiosity and confidence. We provided her with opportunities to forage and work with puzzles, fostering natural behaviours that would ease her introduction to other primates. Etinde is now thriving, now strong, healthy, and filled with playful energy. Look at how she has grown...
