Our Mission
The mission of the Child Advocacy Center is to respond to child abuse through a team approach designed to reduce trauma, seek justice, and provide hope and healing for children and their families.
Our Services
- Forensic interviews for child victims
- Medical evaluations for child victims
- Immediate and ongoing advocacy and support for child victim and non-offending family members
- Mental health support at no cost to families through UNL's Project SAFE and Lutheran Family Services
- Court School for child victims testifying in a criminal case
- Case coordination with active case review with a multidisciplinary team
- Professional training and education in the community
Our Children
In 2015, the CAC saw 1,028 child victims of abuse.
73% of these children were under the age of 12.
71% of these children were alleging sexual abuse.
99% of the time they knew their alleged abuser; 71% of the time it was a family member.
