After the tragic Columbine School shootings in 1999, Calhoun County Sheriff Larry Amerson gathered a local community task force to initiate a program that would assist in preventing a school tragedy from taking place in Calhoun County.  After several meetings, the LINC program was formed as a division of the Sheriff's Department. It provided the parenting education and support for families dealing with at-risk, out-of-control kids.  In 2002, the LINC program became it's own 501(c)3 entity, and then changed it's name to Family Links, Inc. in 2007 to encompass all of the services for famililes.  In 2009, Family Links merged with another non-profit organization, Concern for Children, Inc. and provides parenting education and support from birth-adolescents, including a Success Academy for youth offenders.
