The Lincoln Boys Choir dates back to 1952, when the Choir was sponsored by the Lincoln Public Schools.  Until 1968, the Choir, under the direction of Dr. Hugh Rangeler, provided hundreds of boys a myriad of educational opportunities through performances and travel.  The group was then directed by Duane Nichols and Randy McEwen until it dissolved in 1972.  In 2002, the Lincoln Scottish Rite Preservation Foundation expressed an interest in doing something more for young people and provided the foundation needed to re-establish the Lincoln Boys Choir.  The Lincoln Boys Choir is now an incorporated entity in its own right with its own board of directors.

The mission of the Lincoln Boys Choir is to instill a sense of self-confidence and achievement, promote fellowship among many different cultures, provide educational and enrichment opportunities through domestic and international travel and performance, and promote excellence and a life-long love of music for boys 8-18.  The Lincoln Boys Choir Organization now has three choirs with a total of 90+ boys selected by audition.  The Choirs rehearse one-hour and fifteen minutes once a week.  They have been featured on public television, performed with the University of Nebraska Men’s Choir, First Plymouth Church, Brass and Abendmusik, the National Orff and Kodaly Convention, the Nebraska Music Educators and Nebraska Choral Directors Conferences, The Governor’s Inauguration, Lincoln's Symphony Orchestra, and many other community events.  The choirs have received superior ratings and sweepstakes awards in competitions.  They have toured Kansas City, New York, Chicago, Austria, Czech Republic, Italy and Ireland.
