The Lincoln Midwest Ballet Company, a nonprofit organization, was founded in 1989; from two previously existing organizations: The Lincoln City Ballet, formed in 1979, and the Ballet Midwest Dance Company, formed in 1985. The two organizations merged to further their common goals and their similar missions.

The opportunities and guidance provided by the LMBC in the community continue to teach and expose young people to the discipline and art of dance. Alumni of the LMBC have been accepted into prestigious ballet programs, including the Boston Ballet Summer Workshop, Alonzo King Lines Summer Program, Aspen Ballet West,Joffrey Ballet School, the St. Louis Ballet Summer Workshop, Butler University, the University of Utah, and the Houston Ballet. Many others have developed careers as professional dancers throughout the nation.

LMBC's annual production of the Nutcracker is now in its 32nd season. This professional level production involves over 200 young dance students from throughout the community each year, along with professional guest artists, a live orchestra, and the very best costumes, sets, and technical staff, creating an unparalleled experience for the children and our audiences. LMBC's Nutcracker is one of Lincoln's most treasured holiday traditions.

The Friends of Lincoln Midwest Ballet Company are a group of dedicated philanthropists who are committed to giving every year. Their kind annual contributions make it possible for LMBC to continue to bring classic stories like the Nutcracker, Cinderella, Snow White and more to the stage and to life. We hope you will join us!
