Can you read this? Good. You don't need us, but over 92,000 illiterate adults in Central Alabama do. One of Central Alabama's biggest problems is not poverty, homelessness, unemployment or even crime. It is something much more hidden and less newsworthy, yet leads to all of these issues in one way or another - ILLITERACY.

For more than 20 years we have been working to help change lives for the people of Blount, Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair and Walker Counties by providing the support and tools to teach adults how to read. We provide tutor training, help to start programs with community and faith-based organizations including homeless and transitional housing shelters and support existing literacy programs in our five-county area. We also work to keep the issue of illiteracy in the public eye.

With your help we can teach those in need how to read and give them hope for a better life and a brighter future.
