Each day as you open your morning newspaper or watch the evening news it seems as if some crisis is happening. We all remember the tragic deaths of the 19 firefighters in Prescott City, AZ.  We also remember the August 30th flash flood that caused over $2.5 million damage in our own beautiful city of Riverside.  Did you know during the first eight months of 2013, people of Riverside have been victims of 7,282 property crimes and 959 violent crimes?  Whether these crises happen to you personally, such as a death or tragedy, or if it is happening to someone you may not know, that crisis nonetheless tugs at your heart.  

People facing these crises often have their psychological balance disrupted. Their normal coping mechanism has been overwhelmed and they have no idea how to handle what has befallen them.   They are in need of a trained individual to come along side them to help stabilize them, reduce the impact of this event and assist in getting them on the road to recovery.

Living Shield Ministries is a Non-Profit Organization made up of men and women from your community.  Our trained chaplains provide emotional and spiritual care to these people. Statistics tell us that people in crisis will more often than not seek out a person from the faith community than any other source of assistance.    A chaplain represents both the faith and secular community.

Living Shield Ministries currently has chaplains that volunteer in an ongoing basis in the Riverside Police and Fire Departments along with the Riverside County D.A’s office.   We are presently working on getting chaplains into City Hall, as well as developing a School Resource Chaplain Program for the City of Riverside. Our goal is to train up more volunteer chaplains to have them readily available for our community of Riverside when the need for you, a family member or your neighbor has arisen. 

This is where your help comes in.
There are many people who have a heart of compassion to reach out and serve others in their greatest hour of need, but they don’t have the finances to put themselves through the training.   Your donation can help provide scholarships to those who cannot afford the costs.  

To complete the full training, a total of 100 hours of training required.  Each 14-hour class plus materials is $150.00 per student.  The 40-hour School of Chaplaincy class plus materials is $350.00 per student.
