The Living Vine, Inc.

The Living Vine is a Christian residential program for pregnant women in crisis situations. We provide a safe, loving, and healthy environment for each woman and her unborn child. Opened in 1996, and we have served over 400 women from the ages of 12 to 43, and many of the women we serve have lived through intense situations such as: mental or psychological issues, lack of family support, domestic violence, substance abuse, prostitution, gang involvement, sexual abuse, eating disorders, learning disabilities, homelessness, or even lack of prenatal care. 

            We firmly believe that the damage from sins of past generations, and their own life, can be reversed by one person choosing to walk with the Lord and making the challenging choices of doing things His way. The main goal of our program is to teach the women about our Savior, Jesus Christ, in hopes that they will want to begin a relationship with Him, and Matthew 28:19-20 tells us to make disciples ‒ teaching them to obey everything He has commanded us. Our residents time in spiritual growth where we worship, read scripture, pray together, watch sermons, watch Christian movies, and talk about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. 

            Secondly, we want to help the women change their mindset into believing that trusting in God and working hard will ultimately be what provides for all their needs. Matthew 6:33 says “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” We have a full-time teacher who helps the women stay in school or gain their GED in order to further their education. We elicit volunteers for tutoring as needed. If they already have their diploma or GED, then the women spend that time at our thrift store, Blessingdales, in job training. 

            The ladies also spend time doing life skills classes such as: sewing, nutrition, anger resolution, parenting, and finances. Our program teaches women to, ultimately, depend on the Lord for all their needs, but we are also equipping them with skills that will help them succeed in the workforce. 

The Living Vine has been working with pregnant women for the past 25 years, and the Lord has blessed us with our aftercare license in 2018! Our aftercare program, The Living Hope, is able to house women and their babies a total of 2 years! 

We know that the Lord is going to provide for all our needs and send faithful people alongside of us to continue in this journey! We are excited to see how God continues to use The Living Vine and A Living Hope to further His kingdom and to make disciples of the next generation!
