Imagine a community where every family can buy fresh, local, affordable, delicious food in their neighborhood. Where local money stays in the community because families buy groceries from local farmers and food producers. Where people come together to share recipes, meet their farmers, and build healthier communities.

Right now, our community looks very different from the one we imagined together. In Roanoke City, one out of every four of our neighbors relies on SNAP-EBT benefits (food stamps) to feed themselves and their families. One out of every four of our neighbors lives more than a mile from the nearest full-service grocery store. Most families have nowhere in their neighborhood to shop for local produce.

LEAP’s Community Markets have been connecting local folks to local food for over 5 years, but we aren’t stopping there! We've got lots cooking for next year:

Through all of this growth, we are focused on our goal: to nurture healthier communities by building more resilient local food systems.

Join us today and invest in our community’s future–a future where our neighborhoods are healthier, our farmers have strong and diverse local markets to sell their products, and we all enjoy local food year round.
