Long Island Volunteer Center

The Long Island Volunteer Center, a Points of Light affiliate, helps people help others.  We provide nonprofit agencies a resource for advertising volunteer placement opportunities across Long Island and link individuals and groups to these opportunities to help expand the capacity and impact of Long Island nonprofits.

We sponsor: 

• Family Volunteer Day - November 17th
• September 11 Commemorative Day of Service
• Martin Luther King Jr. National Day of Service
• National Volunteer Week 
• 25th Annual Prom Boutique Gown Giveaway
• Corporate Volunteer Days
• Virtual Volunteer Reception Center

We also:

• actively recruit volunteers for our 450 partner agencies
• train volunteer coordinators on best practices in volunteer management
• support disaster planning as well as disaster recovery work most recently the response to hurricane relief
