Teens sometimes make poor decisions and get into trouble with the law which can lead to misdemeanor criminal charges. Sometimes another opportunity to make a better choice for their future is what is needed. That is where Teen Court comes in. Teen Court provides alternative solutions for those teens and their families in such a situation. We offer help to young people before they ever enter the juvenile justice system. Teens in the program participate in youth lead court trials as defendants, jurors and Teen attorneys. The jurors and Teen attorneys assess punishment to the defendant in the form of community service hours and number of jury duties for future defendants' court trials.
We serve growing numbers of families in East Texas. About 90% of those Teens completing the program successfully have their charges dropped or expunged from their permanent record.
