Looziana Basset Rescue, Inc.

Looziana Basset Rescue is a non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and unwanted basset hounds in all parishes of Louisiana for the love of the breed. Our rescues receive thorough veterinary examinations and complete medical care. LBR dogs are temperament tested and socialized in our loving foster homes or boarding facilities. In an average year, we take in 100 dogs and place them in carefully screened permanent homes after a comprehensive adoption process.

Leslie Wallace began the Rescue over twenty years ago and has dedicated her life to taking in the unwanted and abandoned bassets in our area. During this time, she has saved the lives of thousands of dogs of all breeds and has placed rescued cats, birds, rabbits, and even a donkey!

LBR has an amazing group of supporters who are quick to jump in to help raise funds when needed. We have a fun, interactive Facebook page where pictures and life stories are shared. It is a close knit family of over 2,000 members, all of whom love their bassets as members of their family.
